My girlfriend and I have been wanting to go on a camping trip for a long time now, and I think I’ve got it all figured out now.
We both love thrift shopping - a lot - so every one of these stops is a Goodwill, with the exception of our campsite and the Unclaimed Baggage Center.
I’m gonna call about this tomorrow, but I figured I’d ask here first: has anyone been camping in the Prentice Cooper State Forest in Tennessee? It offers free tent camping, but the only info I can find is that there are two campsites. Is that literally just two different spots for two different tents, or two separate areas for multiple people in each? If it’s the former, I don’t wanna risk losing it by showing up too late.
Also, what should we check out along the way, preferably on the eastern half of the route? (the park closes at dark, and we need to be inside before then. Factoring in time for stops, we’re looking at 7-9 hours of travel on the first leg and it’ll be hard to add much more. I want to set up the tent before 6:30 or so.
I’m thinking we might go to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and look at the model train, but other than that, I’m at a loss. :P
We’re possibly doing this on Monday, coming home either Tuesday or Wednesday depending on what there is to do in the park.

No specifics, but you might want to check out lake Guntersville. There are some decent roads on the east side of the lake. Also, I don’t know if you are going through there, but Little River Canyon National Preserve is pretty neat.

Thanks! We’re going right past the waterfall there, so we’ll have to stop and take a look.

Like Jordan said, Lake Guntersville is very nice looking. Fort Payne has some really pretty views along the mountains. Mt Cheaha has amazing views but it looks a little out of your way. I’ve always wanted to go to the unclaimed baggage store, but I’ve never gone up there. Anyway, Your trip looks fun.
